In April and May all students in 3rd - 6th grade will be taking the Measurements of Student Progress or MSP (formerly known as the WASL). The MSP will assess student performance in reading and mathematics at all grades, writing at fourth grade, and science at fifth grade. Reading, math and science will take one day each. Writing will take 2 days.
We will begin testing on Thursday April 26th and will continue through the month of May. 3rd and 4th grade will take their paper and pencil assessments first. 5th and 6th grade will be taking their assessments online.
HERE ARE SOME WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR CHILD"S SUCCESS BEFORE AND DURING MSP:
- Read with your child and ask questions about his or her reading.
- Incorporate math into family activities (for example, measuring while cooking or money while shopping) and ask your child to explain his or her mathematical thinking.
- Encourage your student to do his or her best on these assessments.
- Make sure your child has had breakfast and is well rested.
- Ensure that your student is present and on time during testing days.
