Students Selected for Schools of Choice

A lottery was held on February 16 to select students for our secondary schools that require an application or a special program transfer. This includes CHOICE Academy, Big Picture Schools, Raisbeck Aviation High School (RAHS), and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program offered at Mount Rainier High School (MRHS).

Because there were more applicants than can be admitted to these schools, students were selected by lottery from the pool of eligible candidates. To be eligible, students submitted a completed application by January 31.

The admissions process is designed to accommodate the growing number of applications while maintaining each school's high-quality educational program.

Students selected to attend CHOICE Academy and their parents or guardians will participate in individual conferences at the school. The purpose of the conference is the ensure that students and parents fully understand the school program and expectations. Students will also discuss their high school path and career goals with CHOICE Academy staff. CHOICE Academy will contact students to schedule a conference by February 24, 2017.

If a student who received a seat at CHOICE Academy through the lottery process chooses not to attend CHOICE Academy, that seat will be filled from the appropriate waitlist.
