Building Their Futures

Highline students in hard hats picked up hammers and drills this summer to dive into paid, work-based learning. A program from ANEW introduced the construction trades. The goal: a boost to confidence in their futures, plus marketable job skills.

The Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) is charged with recommending bond packages to the school board. Voters approved in 2016 and 2022 to build new schools. Submit your name to the lottery for open committee seats by September 25. Interpretation support is available.

Paraeducators Get a Raise This Month

Paraeducators in Highline Public Schools are getting a significant pay raise, starting with their September paychecks. Highline paraeducators will now earn a minimum of $25 an hour.

Students were busy getting ready for their futures outside Highline High School this summer. The buzzing of their miter and table saws, sanders and drills was the first clue. An introduction into the construction trades, the ANEW Youth Exploration Program provided the two-week, paid summer training.

Brat Trot 2023

Help raise funds for the Highline Schools Foundation at the 2023 Burien Brat Trot on Saturday, October 7. Register to run or walk a new 5k route that starts at Town Square Park in downtown Burien followed by the annual Oktoberfest celebration.. Create a team to receive a discount code for registration. When registering, make sure to note your Highline school affiliation. The school with the most affiliated runners will win $500 for their school or PTA.
