  • Breaking Ground at Des Moines Elementary

    It takes a village! And the village leaders came out to celebrate with Highline Public Schools as district officials, architects and project staff broke ground for a new Des Moines Elementary School at Zenith Park on June 8, 2018.

  • Grading, Trenching, Pouring Foundations at Glacier

    New Middle School | May 15, 2018
    Our contractor, Bayley Construction is at work on site. Contractors will be grading, installing sewer pipes and electrical conduits, and pouring footings. They will place concrete foundations and stem walls, plus excavate for the storm water retention vault.

  • Land Use Permit Approved by Des Moines

    New Elementary School | May 15, 2018
    The Land Use Permit was approved by the City of Des Moines. We expect to open bids and forward the name of the contractor to the school board for approval in May.

  • Second Phase of New Portables Ordered

    Olympic Interim School | May 15, 2018
    Renovation work on Buildings A and C continues, as well as on the portion of Building B that is not being demolished. The first order of portables has been delivered and installed. New portables to replace the majority of Building B have been ordered. Seismic upgrade work, to attach the existing buildings to the foundation with metal plates, continues.

  • HHS Design Work Continues

    Highline High School | May 15, 2018
    Collaboration and value engineering efforts to decrease construction costs will continue during the design development phase. The construction start date was moved to June 2019, to coincide with the move of HHS to the Olympic Interim School. The project remains on schedule to open in fall 2021.

  • Historic HHS Entrance to be Rebuilt With Original Brick and Terra Cotta

    The new Highline High School (HHS) will reopen fall 2021 with its grand main entrance reconstructed using the original brick and terra cotta. Community members learned about this and more at the May 17 Ask-the-Architect meeting.

  • Revised School Boundary Maps Reflect Community Input

    Members of the community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) have developed a revised set of boundary maps and school feeder plan. The draft plan incorporates many of the changes suggested by community members.

  • The 2016 bond will give students room to learn in our growing district. We will have the classroom space we need to lower elementary class sizes, and students will be safer in every school in the district. We are committed to responsible bond spending. We will continue our track record completing every project on time and on budget.
