    Angelica Alvarez represents District 2 on the Highline School Board. She was originally elected in November of 2009. Angelica lives in Burien and is a strong advocate for all children. Born and raised in San Luis, Arizona to migrant field workers, Angelica has traveled and worked in the fields alongside her family most of her life. Following high school graduation, Angelica began working in social services and education.

    Joe Van is a 1995 graduate of Tyee High School and holds a degree in Administration of Justice from Highline Community College. He is employed as a Corporate Operations Manager at Owens & Minor, a global healthcare logistics company in Sumner. Joe is active in a number of civic activities and speaks fluent Vietnamese. Joe and his wife Leslee, also a Tyee graduate, live in SeaTac with three kids.

  • Bernie Dorsey - Director District 4 (Vice President)

    Bernie Dorsey was the founder of the Conscious Fathering Program, a hospital based class that teaches prenatal and childhood involvement skills to thousands of fathers throughout the nation. In 2005 he was a co-creator of Washington’s “Keep Kids Safe” vehicle license plate, which funds prevention and safety programs within Washington State.

  • Fa'izah Bradford - Director District 5

    Fa’izah Bradford is a servant leader who enjoys teaching, mentoring, coaching, and leading youth and adults to reach and maximize their greatness. After working 18 years in the private/corporate sector, she transitioned to public and non-profit education where she currently works in public schools as an educational leader with an emphasis on racial equity, authentic engagement, and organizational collaboration. Fa’izah received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Northwest University, and she is currently enrolled at Washington State University – Vancouver, completing her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (May 2018) and Program Administration. A resident of Des Moines, WA, Fa’izah is married to husband, Corey. They have an adult son and a daughter who is a 2016 graduate from Mount Rainier High School.
