It is the policy of the Highline School Board to provide all students with the opportunity to complete graduation requirements without discrimination and without disparate impact on groups of students. The board acknowledges that there may be rare instances when circumstances arise that prevent a student from completing all of the requirements necessary for high school graduation. Therefore, the Board delegates to the superintendent or his/her designee discretion to waive certain graduation requirements, including certain credits. The Superintendent is authorized to develop procedures implementing this policy.
Specifically, and under certain circumstances, the Superintendent is authorized to waive:
- · Up to two elective or locally-designated credits required for graduation
- · The physical component of Physical Education courses
- · Washington State History
Eligibility and timelines are set forth in the accompanying procedure.
