Employees who work hours eligible for overtime pay may request compensatory time off in lieu of overtime pay for such. Employees will not work hours in addition to their regularly scheduled hours without appropriate prior authorization. Time off shall be at the rate of time and one-half for worked overtime hours. Compensatory time off in lieu of overtime pay must be taken within sixty (60) days of the date earned and requested and must be scheduled for usage at a mutually agreeable time with the supervisor. No employee may bank more than 40 hours of compensatory time. If the time cannot be scheduled within the sixty (60) day time period, the employee shall be paid at the overtime rate for the unused time off. Time off hours beyond 40 shall be compensated at the overtime rate.
The superintendent or designee is responsible for developing procedures to assure accurate record keeping, prompt payment of overtime pay and monitoring of time off in lieu of overtime pay if requested by the employee and mutually scheduled with the immediate supervisor.
