I. Leaves and absences will be provided for represented employees pursuant to appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
Leaves and absences will be provided for unrepresented employees and principals and vice principals consistent with the collective bargaining agreement of the employee organization with which the individual's job duties are most closely aligned as determined by the superintendent.
II. Family and Medical Leave
Regarding leave from work for family and/or medical purposes, district staff shall enjoy Family and Medical Leave Act rights as provided by law. Employees shall be required to first utilize available paid leaves for family and medical purposes. Utilization of unpaid leave shall be granted to complete the total twelve weeks of authorized leave for family and medical purposes as required by law. Written notice at least thirty days prior of an employee's scheduled taking of the leave is required; provided however, that for emergency medical reasons, the notice to the district shall be as soon as practicable. Leave for instructional staff and return from such will need to be coordinated with academic periods and substitute availability. Leave days may be contiguous or taken over time as permitted by law.
