The superintendent is authorized to direct and authorize the county treasurer to invest district monies which are not needed for current obligations in any district fund. The district shall invest monies in those securities or instruments which are allowed by law. Such investments shall be made with the objective of minimizing risk and producing the greatest return in securities legally permitted by the State of Washington and in accordance with the county or state adopted investment policy.
