Directed Athletics is a program that allows students to earn Physical Education credit through participation in WIAA recognized school athletic programs.  Community-based athletic programs of at least 80 hours may be considered as well.  Students earn 0.5 credit through participation in one athletic season, or an 80-hour community-based program. Students can earn up to 1.5 credits.

Students register for Directed Athletics at the school where they play sports within one week of the beginning of the season.

School staff will review applications and approve students participating in eligible activities.  Once approved, students will access an online course to complete course assignments.  The online course complements the physical activity and learning taking place during the athletic activity.  School staff will be available to answer questions, however students are expected to independently complete the online course.

Students must maintain good standing with their activity for the entire season, beginning within the first week of the season, fully participating (less than 5 unexcused absences), and maintaining a record of no violations of team/district athletic code.  Students are responsible for obtaining participation verification from their coach.

To earn credit, students must complete online course work no later than two (2) weeks after the activity season has concluded. 

School staff will communicate with the registrar to ensure credit is posted.
