Our graduating class of 2018 represents a richly diverse group of young people. They demonstrate perseverance, humility and excellence. Their goals are big, and their future is bright. They are determined to change the world for the better—and we wholeheartedly believe they will.
These two seniors are examples of the outstanding young leaders graduating from Highline ready to choose their future.
Student: Emmanuel Cruz Soria
School: Highline High School
Extra-Curricular Activities & Awards: Emmanuel has competed for four years on the HHS soccer and cross country teams. He volunteers with the Environmental Science Center and ShineBright, and has worked as a teaching assistant in the summer to help middle school students transition to high school. Emmanuel was also named a 2018 Highline Public Schools Scholar-Athlete.
Future Education: University of Washington
Dream Job: Design hospitals, schools and bridges for people in communities that need it most.
Student: Rahel Ambachew
School: Mount Rainier High School
Extra-Curricular Activities & Awards: Rahel participates in several clubs and organizations at Mount Rainier, including the Global Citizens Club, Debate Club and Black Student Union. She is also a volunteer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Rahel is the recipient of the prestigious Act 6 Scholar Award and will attend college on a full-ride scholarship.
Future Education: Pacific Lutheran University
Dream Job: Rahel wants to work in Ethiopia as a doctor through an organization like the Peace Corps or Doctors Without Borders
