Celebrate Highline's Best: Nominate a 2025 Gold Star!

Do you know someone who makes a difference in Highline Public Schools? It’s time to shine a spotlight on the outstanding individuals who inspire, lead and live the Highline Promise every day. Nominate them for a 2025 Gold Star Award by February 14!

Each year, the Highline Schools Foundation invites nominations from staff, families and the community to recognize and celebrate excellence in our schools. The Gold Star Awards honor teachers, volunteers, alumni, staff and administrators who go above and beyond to support our students and schools.

Award Categories

The Foundation is seeking nominations for the following categories:

  • Outstanding Teacher – A Highline teacher with three or more years of experience working directly with students.
  • Outstanding Rookie Teacher – A Highline teacher with less than three years of experience working directly with students.
  • Outstanding Professional Staff – A staff member with specific educational or career credentials, such as a therapist, counselor or social worker.
  • Outstanding Classified Staff – An hourly employee in a role such as paraeducator, bus driver, custodian, school office staff or more.
  • Outstanding Administrator – A leader who manages schools or district programs, including principals, assistant principals or department heads.
  • Outstanding Volunteer – An individual who serves Highline schools in a volunteer role like a PTSA member or committee participant.
  • Outstanding Alumni – A graduate of Highline schools who has made significant contributions to society and the Highline community.

Nomination Details

Nominations are open now through Friday, February 14. Submit your nomination online through the Highline Schools Foundation website.

Nominees must be current employees of Highline Public Schools, except for Outstanding Volunteer and Outstanding Alumni nominees.

Celebrating the Winners

Winners will be selected by a committee in early spring and announced at the Gold Star Bash on the evening of Thursday, March 20, at Wesley in Des Moines. Winners will also be honored at the Gold Star Fundraising Breakfast in early May at Cedarbrook Lodge in SeaTac.

In addition to recognition and accolades, each winner will receive a $250 cash prize from our sponsors. This year’s Outstanding Teacher will also receive two round-trip tickets to any destination Alaska Airlines flies!
