Preparing for Future School Bonds
Community members spent four hours touring several of our older school buildings on Saturday, February 2. This year the community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) plans to finalize recommendations to the school board for the next school bond and beyond.
We still have too many older schools to walk through in one afternoon, which is why we are grateful to have dedicated community members planning for the future.
Did You Know?
Did you know that the 2016 bond pays for the design of Evergreen and Tyee high schools as well as Pacific Middle School? Future bonds will be needed to pay for construction of these schools and other remaining building condition and capacity problems and district operational and support needs.
CFAC Tours 4 Facilities in 2019
CFAC committee members on the tour this month walked through Tyee High School, Pacific Middle School, Southern Heights Elementary School and Transportation Building L (used by bus drivers). They also drove past Beverly Park Elementary School and the Manhattan and Woodside sites, which have a variety of choice and alternative programs, as well as district operations, housed in multiple buildings with a range of ages and conditions.
