Families: How To Support School Safety Efforts

Families: How To Support School Safety Efforts

Your child’s safety is our top priority. We work closely with local law enforcement and first responders to ensure everyone remains safe while we investigate safety concerns or respond during emergency situations.

Here’s how you can stay informed and support these efforts:

Stay Informed. We’ll post the latest updates on our school and district websites during confirmed emergencies. You’ll find critical information on where and when, if it’s needed.

Download ParentSquare. ParentSquare is our platform for school-to-home communication. If you haven’t already, please activate your account with the email or phone number you used for student registration. Set your notification preferences to stay informed, including turning on text messages.

Keep Your Contact Info Up to Date. Ensure we have your current phone number and email so you can receive our automated calls, texts, and emails during emergencies. You can update this information through ParentVUE or your school office.

During a Lockdown, Stay Home. For your safety and the safety of your child, do not come to the school during a lockdown. Let responders focus on student safety. Coming to school may put you or your child at risk. Additional people on the scene distract first responders from their primary job – student safety. We will keep you informed through ParentSquare as well as our website, and other official channels.

Avoid Calling the School During an Emergency. Allow staff to focus on the emergency. Calling during an emergency can pull staff away from critical response efforts and delay important updates. Check our official channels for updates and instructions.

Help Keep Your Student Calm. If your student texts you during an emergency, remind them to stay calm and follow staff instructions.

Prevent Misinformation. Please avoid re-sharing unverified information on social media. Instead, report any concerns directly to law enforcement (call 911) and school staff, and rely on our official updates.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe.
