Health Sciences Career Pathway Launches at Tyee

Health Sciences Career Pathway Launches at Tyee

A New CTE Pathway at Tyee Prepares Students for High-Demand Healthcare Careers

We’re excited to announce a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunity for students interested in a future in healthcare! Starting in Fall 2025, Tyee High School will launch a specialized Health Sciences Career Pathway. It is open to incoming 9th-grade students within and beyond Highline Public Schools.

Students in Tyee’s new health sciences program will build skills for well-paying careers in healthcare. Please help us spread the word! If you know other families or students who might be interested in a healthcare career, we encourage you to share this information.

Program Features

In 9th and 10th grades, students in the program will begin with hands-on courses, including Introduction to Health Science Careers, Medical Terminology and Human Body Systems. Starting in fall 2027, as the program grows to include 11th and 12th graders, Health Sciences students will choose one of three career pathways:

  • Nursing Assistant Pathway: Students can earn a Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC).
  • Pre-Allied Health Pathway: This option opens doors to careers such as physical therapist or radiologic technologist.
  • College in the High School Pathway: Earn college credits towards a two- or four-year degree in the medical field
  • Students will have access to guest speakers, job shadowing, internships, and work-based learning opportunities.

Application Details

Tyee will accept applications for this new CTE program through the Highline Schools and Programs or Choice application process, which opens on November 8 and closes on January 31. Current 8th-grade students are encouraged to apply. Current Tyee students can access the new courses through elective enrollment.

More application information for the Health Sciences Career pathway will be posted on the Tyee website soon.
