🌷 Spring Break
Spring break is April 6-10. Enjoy the break, and we will see you on Monday, April 13.
Choose How You Receive Communication - Yes! Text is an Option!
Families and students can choose how they want to receive school messages whether that is by text, email or app notification. If texting works best for your family, you can choose that option. When text is turned on, messages from a teacher, coach, or school can come through like a regular text message on your phone. You can read it and reply right from your phone, just like you normally would.
💻 Technology Transition: What Families Need to Know
We are transitioning districtwide from Google to Microsoft. Staff have been learning Microsoft tools since fall 2024, with classroom use beginning in the 2026–27 school year. Families do not need to take action now and will continue using ParentVUE and ParentSquare.
The Promise Podcast
Episode six of The Promise Podcast features Highline parent and former community partner Savannah Benally. Listen as she shares how community, culture and connection support her children at Madrona Elementary.
🎓 FutureU: Juniors Explore What’s Next
On April 1, 11th-grade students attended FutureU at Green River College as part of their High School and Beyond Plan. Students explored college and career pathways through hands-on activities, a resource fair and a campus experience. Visit our website to see highlights and learn more about FutureU.
🍜 Help Shape School Meals: Share Your Voice
We want our school meals to reflect the cultures, traditions and tastes of our Highline community. Share your ideas on our Nutrition Services menu survey to help shape meals. From favorite dishes to cultural recipes, your voice helps us continue growing our scratch-cooked, nutritious meal options. Take a few minutes to complete the survey and help us create menus that celebrate our diverse community!
❤️ Spring Health & Attendance: When to Keep Your Child Home
Missing just two days a month adds up! Whether excused or unexcused, absences can impact progress.
Keep Your Child Home If They Have:
- A fever of 100°F or higher
- Vomited two or more times in the past 24 hours
- A sore throat with a fever or swollen glands
- A rash with itching, fever or swelling
- Diarrhea (three or more loose stools) in the past 24 hours
- A doctor’s note saying they should stay home, or they are in the hospital
If you’re not sure if they should stay home, ask yourself:
- Can they participate in school activities without spreading illness?
- Will they be able to focus and learn effectively today?
Check your student’s attendance in ParentVUE and celebrate their progress. If you need support, reach out — schools can connect families with helpful resources. Let’s work together to keep students healthy and learning!
📅 School Board Meeting Schedule
You are welcome to join the Highline School Board and superintendent at a school board meeting. All school board meetings are held at the Central Office, 15675 Ambaum Boulevard SW in Burien, typically every other Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 15. All regular board business meetings, work sessions and public hearings are public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
