π Board Commits to Protect
Highline Public Schools’ Board of Directors stands firm in its commitment to protect students, staff and families regardless of background, identity or immigration status. During a standing-room-only meeting on March 5, the board unanimously approved Resolution 02-25: Our Schools, Our Promise – A Stand for Every Student .
π School Board Reopens District 5 Application
During the March 5 meeting, the school board narrowed the candidate pool to three finalists for District 4. Board members also voted to re-open the application window for District 5 after two candidates withdrew from the process before the first round of public interviews. Those interested in District 5 are encouraged to apply by March 13.
π Sexual Health Education Info Night
In Highline, we teach comprehensive sexual health education in alignment with state law and district policy. FLASH (Family Life and Sexual Health) is our curriculum that meets state requirements for sexual health education, which is taught in grades 4-12. Families may opt out of any or all sexual health lessons. Learn more at our Sexual Health Education Night for Families on March 31 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Central Office.

Some schools are holding conferences on March 14—an opportunity for students to reflect on their progress, celebrate achievements, and take ownership of their learning. π’ New Safety Plan Launches in April
Starting April 14, we’re implementing a new emergency response plan, the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), to keep everyone safe and informed whether it’s a minor situation, a safety precaution or a serious emergency. With five easy-to-understand actions — Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter — the SRP helps students, staff and families know the right steps to take in any situation.
π You’re Invited: Family University Workshops
Family University is an informational workshop designed to support families in navigating the public school system at both the state and district levels. Families will learn how to work with school staff, strengthen their connection with their child’s school, and find useful resources to stay involved. Register now for the March 18 session!

π School Board Meeting Schedule
You are welcome to join the Highline School Board and superintendent at a school board meeting. All school board meetings are held at the Central Office, 15675 Ambaum Boulevard SW in Burien, typically every other Wednesday, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held on March 19, 2025. All regular board business meetings, work sessions and public hearings are public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
