✨ Honoring Our Teachers, Sharing Their Stories
Highline Public Schools teachers do more than teach—they build trust, spark learning and help students believe in themselves. This week, Highline honors all educators—and shines a light on two award-winning teachers who show what’s possible when students are welcomed, valued and safe.
🎉 Five Highline Schools Honored for Growth and Achievement
Congratulations to CHOICE Academy, Gregory Heights Elementary, Midway Elementary, Raisbeck Aviation High School, and White Center Heights Elementary. These schools were recognized by the Washington School Recognition Program for strong performance in the 2023–24 school year. Only 16% of schools in Washington State received this honor. This reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and families.

⚠️ Device Safety and Student Responsibility
We are aware of a social media trend that encourages students to intentionally damage their school-issued devices. We encourage students not to participate in the trend and report concerning behavior to a trusted adult.

🥗 Federal Cuts Affect Highline's Local & Fresh School Meals
McMicken Heights students enjoyed farm-fresh asparagus and Cosmic Crisp apples during a visit from Eastern Washington farmer Mark Rowley. His visit coincided with news that the federal administration cut USDA funding for the Local Food for Schools program — funding that helped Highline purchase local foods like cherries, salmon and berries for school meals.
🖥️ Notice of Data Security Event
Be sure your personal information is protected. In response to the cyber incident this fall, Highline is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services for 12 months through IDX at no cost to you.
📅 School Board Meeting Schedule
You are welcome to join the Highline School Board and superintendent at a school board meeting. All school board meetings are held at the Central Office, 15675 Ambaum Boulevard SW in Burien, typically every other Wednesday, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 21. All regular board business meetings, work sessions and public hearings are public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
