Expected Bus Delays

Kindergarten students will begin riding school buses on Monday, September 11. School buses may run behind schedule for several days as kindergarten students and their families learn the school bus routine. All kindergarten students must be met at their bus stops by an adult, which sometimes results in delays. Please be patient as we teach our youngest  students how to safely ride the bus.

Attendance Notifications

This school year, we began using ParentSquare to send attendance notifications. You may have received inaccurate attendance notifications this week as we transition to this new system. If you are concerned about your child’s attendance, please contact your school office. Learn more about attendance.

Suicide Prevention

Next week we recognize Suicide Awareness Week. We want you to know that your mental health is important. Life as staff and student can be challenging, and it's okay to ask for help. Remember, there's strength in reaching out to friends, family, teachers or counselors. Let's support each other, break stigmas and create a community where everyone's mental well-being is valued. Check out resources provided by our Social Services Department

Curriculum Adoption Announcement

After a thorough process of research, review, evaluation, piloting and community input, curriculum adoption committees recommended new instructional materials to the Highline School Board.

In Case You Missed It: First Day Photos

This week we celebrated the first day of school with 1st through 12th grade students across Highline. In our PROMISE newsletter we shared photos of students, staff and families during the first day of the 2023-24 school year. Take a look

CFAC Invitation

We need YOU! You are invited to submit your name to the lottery for open seats on the Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) by September 25. This committee is charged with recommending bond packages to the school board, which resulted in voter-approved construction bonds in 2016 and 2022 to build new schools. Interpretation support is available. Find out more and submit your name.

Have You Completed the Back-to-School Checklist?

Last month we shared the 9 Things to Do Before School Starts. It is not too late to mark things off your list. Check your school’s calendar, activate your ParentSquare account, confirm your contact information in ParentVUE, check out menus, know your rights and responsibilities and more.
