Highline Named K-12 Dive District of the Year

Highline Named K-12 Dive District of the Year

Highline Awarded for ‘Thinking Outside the Box’ and Leading with Empathy

The national education publication K-12 Dive has named us its District of the Year in the K-12 Dive Awards for 2020.

“In a year lacking face-to-face connections, [Highline] thinks outside the box to keep its promise to know every student by name, strength and need,” the K-12 Dive write-up stated.

In a year like no other, K-12 Dive focused on leadership in a time of unprecedented crisis.

"The Dive Awards for 2020 highlight the stories of the organizations and leaders who met the moment by showing empathy for the human condition, agility amid uncertainty and disruption, and resilience in the face of adversity," said Industry Dive Editor-in-Chief Davide Savenije.

Superintendent Susan Enfield was quick to credit the Highline community.

“Our amazing staff, students and families have risen to the challenges of this year in remarkable ways. It is a joy and privilege to work alongside them,” Enfield said in a tweet.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Hello Highline. I'm coming to you today with some exciting news. K-12 Dive, an online education publication, has named Highline Public Schools it's 2020 District of the Year. Cue the applause. I am so, so proud of you all for earning this recognition. And it really is a recognition of the work that staff, students, families have collectively done over the past several months during incredibly challenging times.

And what they point out, especially is the district's commitment to our Highline Promise of knowing every student by name, strength, and need. And I know that you all share that commitment, and that it has become a bit more challenging to deliver on that promise during these times. And yet you don't give up. You keep going.

And so while I try to tell you as often as I can how proud I am of you, that I see you, that I celebrate you and I support you, I want you to know today that I'm not the only one. People locally and nationally see you, and they applaud you for the work that you are doing. And so thank you. Thank you for everything that you do each and every day. You make us all incredibly Highline proud.

So with that everybody stay safe, stay strong, stay healthy, and just keep doing this incredible, incredible work. Thank you.
