Highline Schools Foundation Awards $372,500 in Scholarships

2024 Scholarship Recipients 

The Highline Schools Foundation is awarding 47 graduating Highline seniors with scholarships totaling $372,500.

"These scholars have accomplished so much and it's a real honor to be able to support them in this way," shares Fred Swanson, Executive Director of the Highline Schools Foundation.

Pay It Forward Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes three students from Evergreen High School.

  • Janine Garcia Espinosa, Evergreen High School

Harriette Fredenburg Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students who plan to study mathematics or education.

Burien Arts Association Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students who will pursue a visual arts degree at an accredited arts organization or four-year college/university.

Anne Gregory Memorial Scholarship 

This $2,000 scholarship recognizes students from Evergreen High School.

Beyond Opportunity & Impact Scholarship

This $1,500 scholarship recognizes students from Puget Sound Skills Center.

TinShip – The Tin Room Scholarship

This $3,000 scholarship recognizes students attending an accredited trade or vocational school.

Fred Vaughan Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students for their academic achievement and community service.

Gateway Scholarship

This $5,000 scholarship recognizes students who have experienced homelessness, foster care or kinship care.

Nature Stewards Environmental Science Scholarship

This $3,000 scholarship recognizes students planning to study environmental science.

Jim Glennon Memorial Scholarship

This $3,000 scholarship recognizes students planning a career in education.

Scott Gifford Memorial Scholarship

This one-time $10,000 scholarship recognizes students planning to study aerospace engineering.

This $5,000 scholarship recognizes first-generation students pursuing post-high school education or those planning a direct career path like the military, vocational, or other career pathway.

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students who have helped advance and support LGBTQ+ communities.

This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students from Tyee High School.

This $5,000 scholarship recognizes students based on financial need, academic merit and achievement, and students’ future goals.

Catherine Foss Scholarship

This $30,000 scholarship recognizes students attending an accredited college or trade school.

This $30,000 scholarship recognizes students based on financial need, academic performance, leadership and community service or extracurricular activities.

These scholarship awards were presented at the 2024 Highline Schools Foundation Scholarship Reception held on May 9 at Puget Sound Skills Center. An additional scholarship will be presented during the First Annual Highline Public Schools Pacific Islander Showcase on May 18.
