June is Pride Month, a time when the community recognizes LGBTQ+ people and their history, achievements, and struggle for equality.
Pride Month is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of a Culture of Belonging, one of the four big goals in our strategic plan. In Highline, we are committed to ensuring that our LGBTQ+ students feel welcome, valued and safe.
We know that LGBTQ+ young people are more likely to be bullied, to experience depression and to attempt suicide. This is not acceptable. It is our responsibility as a community to ensure all people are valued and respected, as all human beings have the right to be.
Highline stands with our LGBTQ+ students, staff, family members, and community. You belong.
