Tyee High School:
New Design Renderings, Quotes & Existing Site Conditions
"The Tyee staff are very welcoming. The building is not. It is very rundown. This new building design would make me feel welcomed, safer and happier to come to school. I wish I could attend the new school when they build it, but I will be glad if future students have the opportunity to go to a new Tyee High School with a secure campus and a modern learning environment."
— Nare Moi, 12th grade, Tyee High School
Tyee student Nare Moi, 12th grade (second from right) has help showing off the new Tyee design renderings from excited school staff members (l. to r.): Mike Gronewold, safety & security officer for Tyee; Clark Colvin, Tyee athletic director; Jaimee Shaug, attendance specialist; Tray Mcelroy, district safety & security officer; Mika Wilson, office assistant/assessment coordinator.
"I would feel excited and like I had a home. Last year was my first year here. It was so hard to figure out this campus. It is a mess of many separate buildings. Tyee staff, students and community already make you feel at home, but with a new school, we would have a better foundation for building a learning environment and a place to call our own."
— Mika Wilson, Office Assistant/Assessment Coordinator, Tyee High School
"We need bigger bathrooms. Enter the doorway and they are already crowded at the doorway, and too many people waiting, so they get more tardies."
— Brandon Palsis, 9th grade, Tyee High School (right)
"Students would want to go to class in a nice, new building. Some people don't view Tyee as the best place to go to school, but with a new school, that might change and they might want to come here. That new building [design] looks pretty good. It could change perspectives. It would be like the other new high schools that are getting built and not so old and rundown looking."

CONSTRUCTION DEPENDS ON NOVEMBER 8 BOND APPROVAL
Construction of Evergreen, Tyee and Pacific (the three schools designed with funds from the 2016 bond) would be funded by Proposition 1: Highline Schools Bond, if approved by voters on November 8 with a 60-percent approval rate.
If the bond is approved, a new Tyee High School would open in September 2025.
