Power Outages: What Families Should Know

Sometimes our schools may lose power, phone or internet service. When there is an outage, here is what families need to know:

• Regular School Schedule: Most outages do not change the school day. Schools are prepared to continue operating, and staff may adjust meals, classroom locations or activities as needed. We will contact families if there is a change they need to know about or act on.
• For Urgent Matters: Contact the district Safety & Security Office at 206-631-7600. Examples of urgent matters include student safety concerns or immediate health issues. This number will be posted on your school's homepage during an outage. 
• Non-urgent Issues: Please avoid calling with general questions or non-urgent matters. This helps keep lines open for emergencies.

Outages are not uncommon. They can occur due to weather, nearby construction or other factors. If you do not receive an update, you can expect the school day to continue as scheduled.
