Trammell's Story

A Face and Heart Behind Highline's Community Safety Team

Trammell Woods brings more than experience to her role as Community Safety Manager — she brings a big heart and a passion for service.

A former safety & security officer, juvenile probation officer and mentor, deputy sheriff, chef, published poet, and author of a workbook on trauma, Trammell stepped into school safety because of her desire to help kids. “School may be the only safe place some students have,” she says. “We need to make it feel that way.”

Trammell’s work is funded in part by the 2021 Highline Education Levy, which pays for safety and security staff in schools. But for her, it’s not just about protection — it’s really about prevention and connection.

“I want students to feel safe when they see me in the hallway. I want them to know I’m here for them.”

Her nonprofit mentoring group — Igniting F.L.A.M.E.S. — supports youth in Seattle beyond the school walls. Inside our schools, she’s building trust and building a team. Her vision? That Highline becomes the model for school safety across the state.

“Kids will tell you what’s going on if they trust you,” she says. “We’re not just here to respond, we’re here to prevent. To connect. To care.”

Thank you, Highline voters, for supporting safe, welcoming schools through your local levy.
