What does it look like to grow up in a single school district?
In this episode of The Promise Podcast, Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran sits down with Tyee High School ninth graders Susana Mercado Herrera and Mohamed Aided, who both have spent their entire school careers in Highline. This episode was also recorded on site at the new Tyee High School, made possible by voter support of the 2022 bond.
Tyee is home to the Health Sciences Program, and both students share how being part of that pathway is shaping their goals for the future. They reflect on the educators who supported them along the way and the habits that helped them stay on track.
As the conversation turns to advice for other students, their message is clear. Show up, ask for help, and take school seriously.
