There are three ways to enroll in an elementary dual language school. The process will vary depending on your neighborhood school. Each dual language school is paired with a partner school that allows families to opt in or out of the dual language program.
Students assigned to one of these dual language schools will be automatically enrolled in dual language if it is available at the student’s grade level.
- Hazel Valley, Grade K-2*, Spanish
- Hilltop, Grades K-5, Spanish
- Madrona, Grades K-5, Spanish
- Midway, Grade K-2*, Spanish
- Mount View, Grades K-5, Spanish
- White Center Heights, Grades K-5, Spanish, Vietnamese or English-only
*Another grade level will be added each year until the program is schoolwide.
Students assigned to White Center Heights can request enrollment in the Spanish or Vietnamese dual language program, if space is available.
Learn more about what it means to be enrolled in a dual language school or how to opt out of the program by visiting the Dual Language School Enrollment page.
Students assigned to other schools, including Cedarhurst, Des Moines, Gregory Heights, MarVista, McMicken Heights, North Hill, and Southern Heights, can request enrollment in a dual language school by completing an In-District Transfer Request. Transportation to the dual language school will not be provided.
If you have additional questions, please contact your child’s school or the Language Learning Department at 206-631-3035.
As dual language programs develop, the enrollment process may change.
