High School and Beyond Plan
The High School & Beyond Plan (HSBP) is a Washington State graduation requirement. In Highline Public Schools, the High School & Beyond Plan is sequence of lessons and experiences delivered by dedicated, knowledgeable staff. The HSBP is a meaningful, individualized plan that is grounded in students’ interests, strengths, and hopes for their future. Through deeper, structured conversations with caring adults and real world experiences, students stay engaged, on-track toward graduation, and are prepared for success after high school.
High School & Beyond Plans are reviewed at least annually to assess student progress; refine the plan, including course registration; and review current plans for the student’s post-high school. This is also the opportunity to assess the student’s progress towards the successful completion of high school graduation requirements.
As part of Highline Public Schools High School & Beyond Plan, our high school students use Naviance to explore self, careers & career pathways, and colleges. High school students can access Naviance through ClassLink at any time. Learn more about Naviance.
Required Activities by Grade Level
The following activities are required for the current school year.
Some schools may require additional activities. Please confirm with your school counselor to confirm the complete set of requirements for your school.
Students engage in a variety of activities, lessons, experiences, and reflections during their time at Highline Public Schools. In order to support students, families and staff in making meaning and understanding the connection between these experiences, we've organized the HSBP tasks to six main questions/components that students ask themselves:
- Who am I?
- What are my dreams & aspirations?
- How will I get there?
- Will I be successful?
- Family & Community Engagement
- Life Transitions
