VOICES Internship

The VOICES Internship Program is a 12‑week program designed to help Highline Public Schools students in grades 10-12 build professional skills, gain mentorship, and plan for life after high school. Through workshops, hands‑on learning, and guidance from industry professionals, students gain real‑world experience and credentials that strengthen both college and career pathways. Program highlights include the following:

  • Professional Development: Students participate in three required workshops focused on durable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and workplace professionalism. Sessions include two in‑person training days and one virtual workshop.
  • Real‑World Internship Experience: Students complete 40 hours of internship experience with a Highline Public Schools department or a partner business/organization. These placements expose students to real workplace environments while helping them explore potential career interests.
  • Mentorship: Students are paired with professionals who provide guidance, encouragement, and career insights. Mentors support students in developing both technical and durable skills.
  • Final Project Symposium: The program concludes with a student showcase, where participants present what they’ve learned and celebrate their achievements.
  • Program Benefits:
    • Earn up to $500 award upon successful completion
    • Receive the Highline Work Ready Certification
    • Earn .5 elective academic credit
    • Gain meaningful experience that enhances resumes, job and college applications!
