Catherine Carbone Rogers

The National School Public Relations Association selected Chief Communications Officer Catherine Carbone Rogers as its 2023 Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Award winner.

This national award recognizes an individual for their deep commitment to supporting and mentoring school communication colleagues.

"Catherine exudes servant leadership, superior professionalism and a keen talent for developing others," said Superintendent Ivan Duran.

Catherine is known in our Highline community for being a clear and trusted source of information. She is an expert at honoring many perspectives while remaining committed to Highline’s Promise. A storyteller at her core, she centers student, family and staff voice through all facets of her work.

Her leadership is invaluable to Highline and her colleagues across the state and nation. She is a strong advocate for the school communications profession at a regional and national level.

“Catherine has provided guidance, support and encouragement for a countless number of school public relations professionals over the years,” said NSPRA Executive Director Barbara M. Hunter, APR. “From colleagues in her district to school public relations professionals across the nation, she provides her widely sought counsel and expertise without hesitation, which has proven invaluable to so many during a time of ongoing change.”

Catherine is always willing to help a colleague in another district through a crisis, difficult situation or new challenge. She actively seeks out new school communication professionals to provide mentorship. Catherine has also built an exemplary body of work that serves as a model for others across North America.

Thank you, Catherine, for your leadership in Highline over the past two decades.
