To ensure an equitable process, we are changing the process of identifying students eligible for Highly Capable Services. The annual identification window will shift from spring 2021 to fall 2021.
Measures previously used for identifying students are either not available or present barriers to accurate, equitable identification in a distance-learning setting.
We will begin screening students in fall 2021. All students newly identified for Highly Capable Services will receive services in their current school and class for the 2021-22 school year.
Students currently receiving Highly Capable Services will continue those services during the 2021-22 school year through the Challenge Program (grades 3-8), a highly capable learning plan or the Earned Honors model.
More details about our identification process will be shared this spring in preparation for fall.
