In Highline, we are deeply engaged in work around equity, race and identity to foster an environment in which all students, families and staff grow, thrive and succeed.
Our Equity, Race and Identity Policy outlines Highline's commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization focused on eliminating racism, racial and other identity inequities, and institutional bias.
Living out this policy means supporting the adults who surround our students—employees, families, and community members—in exploring equity and institutional racism. This work happens year around and is outlined in our Adult Learning on Race & Identity Procedure.
A major part of our racial equity work is to listen to and learn from our community. This video, featuring a Highline teacher, student and community members, was shared with all staff at our annual Equity Symposium in August 2020.
