Power outages are common in our region during fall and winter months. Internet outages can also occur from time to time, even when power is not out. Schoolwork can be impacted during power and internet outages.
By making a plan ahead of time, we hope to continue distance learning as much as possible during these unexpected events.
Here are expectations for educators and students in various scenarios, including an outage for the teacher only, for the student only, or a larger outage for both teacher and students.
In all cases, student attendance will be determined based on evidence of participation in independent learning activities.
Please plan ahead TODAY by reading both the expectations and recommended learning activities for students PreK-12 during an outage. In addition to sending a family message (email and text), we will mail a printed copy of the Power or Internet Outage guide to each family:
The detailed list of learning activity ideas is online and can be printed at home ahead of time, or families can request to pick up a copy from school:
Stay safe and healthy, and keep learning this winter!
