Course Description
Did you know that Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world- including in the United States- and is an official language in 22 countries on four different continents? Spanish level 1 is an exciting- interactive course which provides you with the opportunity to explore the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. You will learn how to communicate in Spanish on familiar topics. By the end of this course- you will be able to introduce yourself- ask/answer simple questions- and communicate information about your everyday life. You will also gain insight into your home language and culture by studying another. Exposure to Spanish through reading- writing. listening and speaking on a daily basis is an important part of building proficiency. Therefore- most of the instruction will be in Spanish and your active participation is essential for success.
Essential Standards

- Making Connections: Learners build, reinforce, and expand their knowledge of other disciplines while using the language to develop critical thinking and to solve problems creatively. (3.1)
- Acquiring Information and Diverse Perspectives: Learners access and evaluate information and diverse perspectives that are available through the language and its cultures. (3.2)
