School Nurses
Highline nurses coordinate and provide health services to promote a healthy school community and maximize educational outcomes.
We come from a diverse background of life and nursing experiences. Every day we ensure that all students are healthy and ready to learn.
Highline nurses implement and manage care for students with life threatening and medically fragile conditions. We partner with community providers to give students and their families access to quality healthcare and offer early intervention services such as vision and hearing assessment. Providing health education to students, staff and parents is vital in our role towards health promotion.
We manage diabetic students by monitoring blood sugar levels and giving insulin injections. Students with intensive needs, such as feeding tubes and tracheostomies, receive specialized one on one nursing care.
Through collaboration through Highline staff, nurses are able to give students the comprehensive healthcare that they deserve. Highline nurses are stretched between multiple schools and programs, we train non-nursing staff to provide medical care to students in our absence. By educating our school staff, the needs and safety of our students is always a priority. We are committed to providing all students with the best possible opportunities for success and happiness. Highline nurses are proud to serve on the front lines of illness prevention and wellness promotion as an influential force. We are Highline Nurses!
