2022 Bond Projects

Thank you, Highline voters, for approving the November 2022 school bond at an overwhelming 68.84 percent. Keep track of our construction progress as we work hard to keep our promise to build your new schools on time and within budget. Voters approved the replacement of three aging schools, plus funding for critical repairs and capital improvements districtwide. Read more about our 2022 bond projects below.

A new Evergreen High School is slated to open in September 2025. The original facility opened in 1955, has 10 buildings and is in poor condition. The 2016 bond funded the design for a new Evergreen. In November 2022, voters approved funding for construction. Students will be able to continue school in the existing buildings while the new facility is constructed, starting summer 2023.

A new Tyee High School is expected to open in September 2025. The original facility opened in 1963; it has nine buildings and is in poor condition. The 2016 bond funded the design for a new Tyee. In November 2022, voters approved funding for construction. Students will attend school at the Olympic Interim Site in Des Moines for two years, starting fall 2023. Demolition and construction at Tyee are expected to begin in fall 2023.

Pacific Middle School

A new Pacific Middle School is expected to open in September 2027. The original facility was constructed in 1960; it has multiple buildings and portables and is in poor condition. The 2016 bond funded the initial design for a new Pacific. In November 2022, voters approved funding for construction. Demolition and construction at Pacific are expected to begin in summer 2025. Students will attend school at the Olympic Interim Site in Des Moines for two years, starting fall 2025.

The 2022 bond sets aside $17 million to fund critical repairs and improvements districtwide, including:

Replenish capital fund for emergency repairs

Roofing, painting, carpeting, heating/ventilation

Sylvester Field synthetic turf & track

Transportation/Building L replacement

Remodel site for Highline Virtual Academy

Maritime High School - district contribution
