Opening Year Celebration RSVP
Almost 100 years after Highline High School first opened its doors in 1924, HHS students and staff started school in a brand new 256,000-square-foot building in September 2021.
Let's party like it's 2021!
We postponed the ribbon cutting ceremony and reception last fall when the new Highline High School opened, due to Covid concerns. As promised, we have rescheduled!
You are invited on Wednesday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m. for a ribbon cutting. There will be refreshments and tours of this beautiful new building designed by Bassetti Architects and built by Skanska.
Thank you, voters, for replacing a beloved, but aging, school with a modern learning facility that pays respect to the original 1924 version.
Please RSVP. The online form below includes an opportunity to suggest an alumni speaker and enter a drawing to help cut the ribbon. (Enter by midnight, June 14, for the drawing.)
HHS Opening Year Celebration & Ribbon Cutting
Wednesday, June 15, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Highline High School
225 South 152nd Street
Burien, WA 98148
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the gymnasium, followed by a reception and tours of the new building. Full bleacher seating and additional folding chairs will be available to allow for spacious seating. Tours will be self-guided with printed handouts, and volunteers stationed around the building.
We encourage carpooling. The Moshier Memorial Field parking lot is now open and accessible from South 156th Street. In addition, parking spaces are located on the west and east sides of the new school building, and north of the main entrance on South 152nd Street. The Performing Arts Center has a dance rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. and may be using most of the parking lot east of the PAC, but there should also be space available in the PAC parking lot on the north side of South 152nd Street.
Masks are encouraged but not required. We follow public health guidelines.
Please contact keepingourpromise@highlineschools.org or 206-631-3094 for questions about the event, rather than calling the school.
Thank you!
