The Highline School Board voted unanimously to place the next school bond on November 2022 election ballots. If approved by 60 percent of voters, the bond would fund new schools for Evergreen, Tyee and Pacific.
The 2016 bond funded the design of a new Pacific Middle School with a capacity for 950 students. Architects were selected and the design work began in 2019. We involved the Pacific community in planning and designing a new school.
Construction of a new Pacific Middle School will require funding from a future bond. Funding the initial design work with the 2016 bond will speed up the construction process and save escalating costs. If a November 2022 bond receives 60% voter approval, then a new Pacific Middle School could open in fall 2027. Students would attend school at the Olympic Interim Site during construction—after Tyee students use it during the construction of a new Tyee High School.
Stay tuned for community information meetings in 2022.
The School Board is considering a resolution to place a capital bond before Highline voters in November. The board is slated to vote June 22 on the resolution to place the bond on the ballot.
