Welcome to the 2022-23 session of the community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC). CFAC members from across the district will work together to prioritize future construction needs for Highline Public Schools. 

COMMITTEE CHARGE:  Complete Community Recommendations for Future Facilities, including prioritizing facilities built prior to 2000.

CFAC Plans to Finalize Bond Recommendation March 30

Highline’s community-led bond planning committee is close to a bond package recommendation and anticipates finalizing the recommendation at a meeting on March 30. The committee will present their recommendation to the school board later this spring.

Oversight Committee Tracks Bond Dollars

Highline not only has a bond planning committee, but also a Capital Projects Oversight Committee to track bond spending and project progress. This group of local industry experts meet quarterly to review bond project financial reports and ask questions.

CFAC Builds Potential Bond Packages

In January, Highline’s community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) received more information. Members worked in small groups to test which projects and capital needs fit within potential bond dollar amounts. They developed five potential bond packages, ranging from $450 to $650 million. Next, committee members will refine their bond package ideas, and work toward consensus. They will seek feedback in February.

CFAC Reviews Enrollment and Tax Rate Projections

Highline’s community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) received additional data — enrollment and tax rate projections — to guide them in recommending the next bond package to the Highline School Board.

Oversight Committee Hears Bond Progress Update 

The Capital Projects Oversight Committee met to review quarterly progress on major projects funded by the 2022 bond, as well as critical needs, grant-funded, and non-bond projects. All 2022 bond projects are on time and within budget.
