Design Update | Evergreen High School Design
Architects updated Evergreen High School teachers at a January 22 staff meeting on the design process and site constraints for a new Evergreen High School. They invited all staff to help by adding dots to design images they prefer--a process that will guide the architects.
The Evergreen building design committee toured three high schools this month: Lynnwood, Edmonds-Woodway and Shorewood high schools. Last week they met to identify features they liked about those schools, such as a band/music wing, science classrooms, theater/auditorium space, learning clusters and art display space. The concept of a community school that includes space for community groups to gather was a common theme.
Bassetti Architects starts meeting with staff from each department to gather programming information that will feed into the design concepts.
In the Future
The initial design work for Evergreen and Tyee high schools and Pacific Middle School is paid for by the 2016 bond. A future bond will be needed to pay for construction.
