Representative Tina Orwall visited two of our school sites last week. She viewed the buildings at Southern Heights to see the fire damage from July. Then she toured the new Evergreen High School construction project. Rep. Orwall sits on the House Capital Budget Committee.
The legislator’s school building tours were organized by the Washington Association of Maintenance and Operation Administrators (WAMOA). Other organizations were invited, and representatives attended from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), as well as architects from the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) and the American Institute of Architects Washington Council (AIAWA).
The new Evergreen High School opens in September 2025.
The main office/gym (100 building) at the Southern Heights Site is damaged beyond repair. Demolition is expected to begin as soon as the permit is approved. Two other major buildings on site sustained significant smoke and water damage. We continue to work with the insurance adjuster on the scope and timeline of next steps for the Southern Heights Site.
Over the summer, we renovated the Original Beverly Park Site as an emergency solution, relocating Innovation Heights Academy and Highline Virtual Academy, both previously located at Southern Heights.
