Two Schools Open at Southern Heights

The Southern Heights site is the new home of Highline Virtual Academy (HVA) and Innovation Heights Academy (formerly New Start High School).

The site became available after Southern Heights Elementary was closed due to low enrollment. For more information on this closure, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

HVA moved from the Olympic Interim Site in Des Moines to make room for Tyee students during construction of the new Tyee High School.

Innovation Heights Academy was previously housed at the old Salmon Creek Elementary site.

Bond dollars funded improvements like new paint and carpeting this summer at the Southern Heights campus.

A temporary banner welcomes Innovation Heights Academy and Highline Virtual Academy students to the former Southern Heights Elementary site. HVA students are attend class in person for the first couple weeks, then periodically. Innovation Heights Academy will be going through a process to create a new logo before permanent signage is installed.
