Windows, Brick and Metal Roof Go Up at New Pacific Middle School

Progress Update: June 2026
The new Pacific Middle School continues to take shape as the building exterior comes together. The building's weatherproof yellow sheathing is now in place.
Crews are installing windows, metal panels and brick on the exterior, along with the metal roofing system.
Inside, work is moving across all three levels as mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems are installed.
Interior drywall has begun in key spaces, starting with the electrical and mechanical rooms that will support the school’s building systems and controls.
Funded by the 2022 bond, this middle school replacement project in Des Moines remains on time and on budget to open for school in fall 2027.
