Crisis Team

The crisis team is available to assist school principals and staff in a crisis situation such as a student death, staff death or any other event that is traumatic and may require additional support.

When requested by school staff, the crisis team will go to schools to meet with principals and counselors to make a plan to assist students and staff during the school day. The number of crisis team members that respond to a crisis depends on the impact of each individual situation.

The crisis team works with students using a critical incident stress debriefing model. They speak with students individually or in small groups and are also available for staff consultation. The team works with the school counselor to coordinate their response, for the purpose that the students receive help and information from a familiar staff member.
