Prevention
We’re committed to helping students make healthy choices now and for their future. Each school tailors its approach based on student needs.
In high school, students learn about drugs and alcohol as part of their health classes. Elementary, middle, and high schools may also offer extra lessons. Schools host campaigns, lunch events, and family gatherings focused on prevention.
All students have access to:
In the Classroom:
- Health Classes: Along with school health curriculum we use the Stanford Curriculum for supplemental lessons on nicotine, opioids (including fentanyl), and other substance use topics
- Teen Link: A statewide hub for information, connection, and support.
In School
- HealthPoint Clinics: Clinics are located on the Highline Campus and Evergreen Campus
- School Nurses & Athletic Departments: Supporting wellness and prevention efforts.
- School Counselors: Every student is assigned a counselor as a first step for resources and support.
- Choose You Campaign: Schools are encouraged to integrate this resource across their campus
SBIRT Program
Evergreen, Mount Rainier, Tyee, and all five middle schools offer SBIRT, a prevention and intervention program focused on substance use and mental health.
