Keep the Learning Going This Summer

Students can continue learning at home over the summer with digital tools. Below is a list of digital tools that can be used to help your student continue learning over the summer.

All tools can be found and accessed through ClassLink. Please continue to monitor your students’ device use for safety. If students don’t have the digital tool on their ClassLink Launchpad already, then they do not have access to that tool.

Suggestion to families: Pick a topic that can be explored outside or in your community. Topics could be about plants, animals, jobs in the community, outdoor activities, indigenous history and history of the area. Sora, World Book Online and Gale are great places to start!

Reading Options

Sora: Sora gives students access to ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from their school or public library on any device. Over the summer, families can use Sora to read together at home or on the go, explore books by interest, and download titles for offline reading.
RAZ: Reading A-Z gives students access to leveled ebooks and reading activities. Over the summer, families can use RAZ to support daily reading, listen to books together, and practice comprehension at home or on the go.
Newsela: Newsela offers news and nonfiction articles at different reading levels. Over the summer, families can use Newsela to read about topics their child enjoys, talk about current events, and keep reading skills strong.

Research

Gale: Gale gives students access to reliable articles, videos, and research tools. Over the summer, families can use Gale to explore topics their child is curious about, learn together, and find trustworthy information for questions or projects.
World Book Online: World Book Online gives students access to articles, videos, maps, and other trusted learning tools. Over the summer, families can use it to explore topics their child is curious about, learn together, and build reading and research skills.

Coding

Code.org: Code.org helps students learn coding and computer science through games, puzzles, and creative projects. Over the summer, families can use it to explore coding together, solve challenges, and build problem-solving skills.
Typing Club: TypingClub helps students practice keyboarding through short lessons and activities. Over the summer, families can use it for a few minutes each day to build typing skills, accuracy, and confidence with technology.
