Welcome to Language Learning

  • The Language Learning Department supports schools in designing and implementing instructional programs to develop language skills. Whether a native-English speaker, or a speaker of one of the 100+ other languages in the community, our goal is to support each student in becoming English proficient and excel with full literacy skills in two or more languages.

To do this, we support the following programs at Highline:
Our Strategic Plan includes the bold goal that all students will graduate bilingual and biliterate. We are developing programming to meet this goal.

We are pleased to announce the Wooodring Highline Bilingual Teacher Fellow Program!
This program will support paraprofessionals with bilingual skills in Highline to become certificated teachers with an elementary endorsement. Please click here for more information.
OneAmerica is excited to introduce the launch of their new Home Language Campaign - SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE
This campaign is aimed at dispelling myths about bilingualism, and cultivating the ability of those working with families to communicate the importance and value of home language development.
