Mr. Erik Heineman
Welcome to Mr. Heineman's webpage! I have been teaching at TEC for the last 10 years. Previously, I taught math, including all of the math courses we currently offer at TEC. I'm excited to be teaching Exploring Computer Science, Engineering Design and Development and our new AP Computer Science Principles this year!
I grew up in the Covington area and have lived in South King County most of my life. I graduated from Kentwood High School in 1996 and went to Central Washington University for 2 years, originally to study Computer Programming. I enrolled at Bellevue College for a year, doing Information Technology. After that, I got a job delivering electrical supplies to contractors for a company in Seattle. In February of 2002, I was laid off from there and eventually got a job working concession stands at CenturyLink Field (then it was called "Seahawks Stadium"). After the end of the first football season, I quit and returned to Central to pursue my teaching degree in mathematics.
I'm a big sports fan, supporting all of our local teams. Baseball is my favorite sport, but soccer comes in a close second. I am a season ticket holder for the Seattle Sounders FC 2, a development team for Seattle Sounders FC of MLS. I used to be a Seattle Thunderbirds season ticket holder and still try to attend as many games as I can. I also play soccer on Sundays.
I use Canvas, the district's learning management system, to assign and collect work, administer summative and formative assessments and communicate with students about their progress. The grades in Canvas are not official. I will enter summative and certain formative assessments into the gradebook in Illuminate, since those grades are official.
