Virtual College & Career Center

School buildings may be closed, but the College and Career Centers are still open to serve you virtually! We provide College and Career exploration workshops, College Application support, Financial Aid help, personal statement reviews and more. Future You Choose 

Complete Your Financial Aid

FAFSA & WASFA Opens on October 1

Filing your Financial Aid is the first step to securing money for college. We are offering weekly Financial Aid 101 workshops, FSA ID & WASFA ID tutorials, and financial aid completion sessions where you and your family can complete your application with a trained financial aid expert virtually. Use the Self-Guided FAFSA & WASFA videos to help you complete your financial aid or join us for a workshop. 

College & Career Pathway Visits 

Hear from Program Reps Every Wednesday

Join us for 30-minute sessions every Wednesday between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. for presentations from college, military, apprenticeship, scholarship and trade representatives. Starting 10/7 with St. Martins, Eastern Washington University, UW-Bothell, Northern Arizona, University of Montana and Willamette University. Additional pathways and colleges added every Friday! Graduation orders will be done online for the Class of 2021.
The online store is now open. Place orders for caps and gowns at jostens.com by November 1.

Staff Spotlight: Ti Dinh

Shout-out to Ti Dinh, Upward Bound teacher at Tyee High School! She has spear-headed the effort of creating Financial Aid video walk-throughs for students and families who will be navigating the financial aid process from home. Ti’s creativity and innovation is an asset to the Highline community and the Tyee team! Check out the videos she created on the SSCTRIO YouTube page!

Meet the College & Career Access (CCAS) Specialists

Miechia Taylor, CCAS's for Mount Rainier HS is passionate about supporting students in their post-secondary endeavors. Entering her second year, she will continue to bring new ideas and focus on supporting and motivating students to think about life after high school.

 

Mauricio Majano, CCAS's for Highline HS is always down for conversations over coffee, catching a Mariners game, or exploring a new park in our outdoorsy State. He's excited to be a part of the Highline Community and your post-HS journey!

 

Karly Feria, CCAS's for Tyee HS  has been serving the Tyee community since 2008 and is passionate about helping students realize their dreams and create tangible plans and steps to get there. 

 

Roderick Booker, CCAS's for Evergreen HS  for the past seven years now! He is also a proud graduate of the University of Washington. 

 

If you attend a Smaller & Innovative school, CCAS's can help support you during weekly College Application help, personal statement reviews and Financial Aid workshops & completion events. Look for your school name on the workshop page to get connected. For 1 on 1 support please reach out to your school counselor directly. 

CAREER CORNER

Virtual Career Exploration

Virtual Career Exploration events are opportunities to connect with local professionals. Speakers will highlight their career field and share their personal journeys and insight. You will learn about a variety of careers within each company and the post-secondary credentials/pathways required for these roles.  

  • Eligibility: Grades 9-12 
  • Dates: Wednesdays | October- February
  • Time: 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.
