SCIENCE

Science sequences may differ if a school has a special program.

Chemistry - Physical, Space and Earth Science

• Atoms and bonding, matter and energy in chemical reactions, nuclear reactions in earth and space, and human impacts on earth systems. discussions on ideas within texts.

Physics - Physical and Earth Science

• Forces and motion, energy transfers and transformations, energy in earth systems, waves, and electricity and magnetism.

Biology - Life and Earth Science

• Study molecules to organisms, ecosystems, heredity, biological evolution and human sustainability.

 

LANGUAGE ARTS

Writing

• Write arguments, explanatory texts and poetry.
• Synthesize analysis and research.
• Use the writing process to independently develop ideas.

Literary Text

• Trace the development of ideas in texts through evidence. • Analyze the impact of author’s choices in craft and structure.
• Prepare for and sustain extended discussions on ideas within texts.

Informational Text

• Use informational text to deepen and develop analysis of fiction.
• Determine and analyze craft and structure.
• Trace and evaluate integration of knowledge and ideas.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING

• Practice emotional intelligence skills in themselves and with others: recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing and regulating emotions.

• Use proficiency- based strategies to develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in world language, heritage or dual language classes.
• Study the products, practices and perspectives of the target culture.
